What to Expect
A fun, casual experience.
Some of what to expect depends on the type of shoot your are booking so I will get into the particulars of that soon but in general: try to relax. I am here for you!
Before the Shoot
Have questions about what to wear? Have ideas about where you want to shoot? Don't have a clue? Know exactly what you want to wear and where you want to shoot and poses you want to do? GREAT! All ideas are welcome and if there aren't ideas - I have plenty to spare! I will be happy to support you through the whole process from choosing outfits to location and poses.
Portraits
Portraits are such fun! These can be head shots, senior photos, modeling photos, or really anything you want! Portrait sessions are generally 30 - 90 minutes. I recommend at least 30 minutes for each look you want to do. I also recommend professional hair and makeup services if it's in your budget - these professionals know how to style for the camera plus having your hair and makeup done can do wonders for your energy! I love when my clients walk into frame feeling like a total boss and so does my camera (her name is She-Ra by the way...)
Engagement
What a great way to get to know one another better! I really enjoy these sessions and clients have told me they do too! Engagement shoots are generally 60-90 minutes and I recommend 2-3 looks. I also recommend scheduling a hair and makeup trial on the day of our shoot so you can not only look FABULOUS but also see how your hair and makeup photographs. This can be helpful feedback for your hair and makeup artists to have before your wedding day!
Before the Wedding
It's important for us to discuss your expectations before your wedding so I know how to best support your vision. It is also important to know what shots you want and with whom (e.g. "we HAVE to have photos with Aunt Charlie! She lives in New Zealand and we never see her!")
When this conversation happens is up to you - for some folks it makes more sense to chat just a couple weeks before the wedding because certain details may still be pending and for others, the discussion can happen well in advance. Not to worry - I have questions prepared to help make this a quick and easy conversation and it will mean less questions on your big day!
Wedding
Oh my goodness your day is HERE! You can count on me to connect with your vendors and coordinate with them. As an experienced wedding photographer, I know what questions to ask and how to navigate common challenges. Don't you worry about a thing when it comes to the photography - I got you!
One thought: Rain or shine. Delays or smooth sailing. Whatever happens is your story & that means it's special. Try to enjoy it!
After the Wedding
"I wonder when we are going to get our pictures..."
My goal is to get you your full gallery within 2-3 weeks. That said, I will send you a "sneak peek" within a few days of your wedding and you are welcome to post and share those photos with anyone you like! Photos are available via Google Drive folder from which you can download all of your images.
Lifestyle Photography
These shoots are a blast. I am there to photograph how you exist in the world. I recommend at least 2 hours for these sessions to give you time to settle in. Generally, lifestyle sessions are done in the home and everyday activities are captured. Before scheduling a lifestyle shoot, we can discuss what you are looking for and I can make recommendations.
